The Government Subdelegate in Lleida, José Crespín, visited the cooperative on January 22nd, coinciding with the collection of samples of extra virgin olive oil that was participating, for the first time, in the Food of Spain Awards for the best extra virgin olive oils (EVOO) of the 2024-2020 campaign, with the aim of promoting one of the country’s star products. He made the visit accompanied by the cooperative’s president, Francesc Rebordosa.
The sample collection was carried out by personnel from the Subdelegate’s Agriculture Unit following the guidelines established in the competition. The samples are then sent to the Ministry’s Tasting Unit for the organoleptic evaluation of the participating extra virgin olive oils.
The Espluguenca Agricultural Cooperative, founded in 1957, is part of the Les Garrigues PDO and has approximately 160 members who produce oil and wine.
